thanks for checking us out! we hope you decide to join us. civic is a community set in Greenburgh, New York, home to the villages of Dobbs Ferry, Irvington, Sleepy Hollow & Tarrytown. Located about an hour outside of New York City, you're close enough to take advantage of all the city has to offer while still enjoying a quieter suburban life. it's the best of both worlds! our aim is to be a friendly, welcoming community with an emphasis on activity between members.

the golden rules

we're big fans of wheaton's law around here. don't be a dick. drama happens, it's your job to keep it allllll ic. there is a character limit of 3 (three!) as we believe in quality over quantity. we also strongly suggest that you turn off anon commenting here as a preventative measure. other than that, comment unto others as you would have them comment unto you and try to help make this community a friendly and welcoming one!

to apply

here's what you need to apply:
a short blurb about your character. this blurb must include the following basic facts: first and last name, age & date of birth, occupation and what village they live in. anything else is a bonus. if you have a full on biography? that's cool! if you have a few extras about your character - how many cats they have, who their siblings are, what they like to eat for dinner on sundays - that's cool, too! the more info the merrier so long as the basics outlined above are included.

journal names must be ic, no extra letters, words, numbers or underscores. billysmith = okay. _x_billyluvspie007_x_ not so much.

activity

we're looking for two posts a month. they can be anything you want! we just ask that at least one of those posts is open to commenting by the community at large and that you reply any comments you receive. don't be a last minute larry. if you are always posting at the last possible moment, we'll have to say goodbye to you. keep your friends list up to date. if we notice that you have not updated your friends list for 2+ weeks, you will be removed.
